Create click-2-action link in signature for Microsoft Teams

This postis just FYI.

A while ago I decided to use icons in my signature because, in my opinion, this looks better ๐Ÿ˜Š

Below an example of my corporate signature (just a part of it, removed the branding):

From the beginning, with Lync and Skype for Business, you could insert a link in your signature (starting with sip:) so it was possible for the receiver to start a chat upon click.

The first icon, in my example, is configured to start an IM chat with me using sip:[email protected] as hyperlink.

But sometimes it can happen that the click-2-Action for IM is disabled or isn’t working.
There is a solution for that ๐Ÿ˜Š

Right click on the Icon, or text, you are using in your signature and click on “Edit Link”

From here, change the address to:
https://teams.microsoft.com/l/chat/0/[email protected]

Change “name” and “domain.com” to your name and domain name. In my example this is:
https://teams.microsoft.com/l/chat/0/[email protected]

Click on “OK” to save the new link.

When you click on the text/icon in your signature after the change, it will open the webpage as below:

Here you get a pop-up, when Microsoft Teams is installed, to open Microsoft Teams.
If it isnโ€™t installed, you can download it or use the web app instead.

PS, Receiver must have an Office365 account (with Teams enables) to be able to use this functionality.

Are you alreadyusing signatures with click-2-action items?
